WHO WE ARE AND HOW WE STARTED
Nukit is a biosecurity hardware startup
Nukit was founded in 2023 by Ms. Wu, a hardware engineer and YouTube STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Vlogger. During the beginning of the COVID pandemic, Ms. Wu shared a variety of Open Source Hardware designs and information with the public – about how to deal with bioaerosols and reduce the risk of infections.

One of the most promising technologies, Far-UVC, was hamstrung by profiteering, dishonest marketing, and a huge lack of transparency. With the strong encouragement from an online community of Clean Air advocates, aided by a grant from the Balvi Filantropic Fund, together with Ms. Wu’s experience in engineering and contacts in manufacturing – Ms. Wu was able to bring affordable and evidence-based Far-UVC clean air products to market under the Nukit brand.
│ DRIVEN BY HONESTY
These products remain one-third to half the cost (per milliwatt of filtered 222nm output) when compared to competing brands, manufacturers or companies.
At the same time, Nukit offers documentation, proof of safety, proof of efficacy and third party testing from independent labs that our competitors have yet to match.
WHAT WE DO
Ms. Wu is responsible for the first four Open Source Hardware Association (OSHWA) certifications ever granted in China. Nukit maintains the commitment to sharing information with Open Nukit and makes Open Source versions of our products available to the public with no restrictions.
We enforce no IP (Intellectual Property) rights on any of our products. Our goal is for everyone to have access to safe and affordable tools – patent hoarding and other monopolistic behaviors are contrary to that goal.
The Nukit factory is the first and only factory in the world to protect its workers' health, with Far-UVC devices installed in all working and common areas.
We use the same products that we manufacture and sell, and it has significantly improved employee health and dramatically reduced absenteeism.
Nukit allocates the majority of its profits to Research and Development (R&D), conducting advanced simulations and computer modelling to develop new tools.
We also use R&D to enhance the effective usage of existing technology; respirator masks, air filtration, and GUV (Germicidal Ultraviolet) to protect public health.
This research is not specific to our products and can be used by anyone.

New and innovative. And kit, as in “a good bit of kit”, is something useful and practical. Phrase from UK English.

Chinese for "woman”. And when combined with kit, Nukit - something useful and practical created by a woman.
